The grace bestowed on us by the Ascension of Jesus is the divinization of our humanity. Our individuality is totally permeated by the Spirit of God through the grace of the Ascension, and more specifically, through the grace of Pentecost. Thus, we too, by grace, have annihilated the dichotomy between matter and spirit and feel at one with all creation.
Grace is the presence and action of Christ in our lives. Grace is the divinization of our humanity bestowed on us by Christ’s passion, death, resurrection, and Ascension. Grace is God’s need to respond to our need.
The grace of Christmas is to know God in His humanity. The grace of Epiphany is to know Jesus in His divinity. The grace of Holy Week is to know Him in His emptying and dying. The grace of Easter is to know Him in His triumph over sin and death. Our individuality is totally permeated by the Spirit of God through the grace of the Ascension and Pentecost. It is the grace to express His risen life despite the full realization of our own inner poverty.
Contemplative Prayer gives us the grace to be detached from our desires and thus free from the motivation of the false self. We can then lead the spiritual life in any state of life as normal human beings.
St. Therese of Lisieux thought that grace and daily life are always in dialogue as we struggle to figure out what God is saying in the events and circumstances of everyday existence. Mystical grace is the inflowing of God’s presence into our faculties and the radiance of His presence within us.
Your self is totally permeated by the Spirit.
In what ways does grace manifest in your life? How might you consciously participate in grace by performing good deeds or showing love for God?
Allow God to respond to your needs. God wills to respond to your ultimate needs for perfect and eternal happiness.
