The natural moral virtues were distinguished long ago by the Greek philosophers. The infused virtues are given to us, not by habitual practice like the natural virtues, but as a pure gift from God.
The infused moral virtues go beyond being a good, well-balanced and mature human being. They support being fully human in a divine way.
The infused moral virtues are given to enhance the natural virtues of justice, fortitude, prudence, and temperance. They go beyond the goal of being a well-balanced and mature human being. The infused moral virtues enable us to live our human life in a divine mode. Their action is more powerful when they are based on habits of the natural moral virtues that we have developed.
The infused moral virtues enhance the spiritual journey. The infused moral virtues are given, but tend to lose their strength if not built on a firm foundation of the natural moral values.
